Top dressing lawns with compost adds organic nutrients to the soil. Ideally, we aerate lawns prior to top dressing to allow compost and water to penetrate down to the roots. We use washed river sand to fill in low spots in the lawn to produce a nice even surface.Lawn Aeration
Compacted soil is one of the main reasons why lawns look unhealthy over time. Aeration allows better water and nutrient penetration to the root zone. We can aerate your lawn, by using either manual or machine methods. Manual is fine for smaller areas, but we use a specialised machine to aerate larger areas.Dethatching
Thatch is the buildup of the dead looking organic layer between the soil and the green grass of the lawn. A lawn that has a thick thatch is very spongy and difficult to mow. The degree of thatching in lawns is mainly due to the turf variety, how often the lawn is mowed and the height of mowing. We can reduce the amount of thatch in lawns by vertical mowing, or vertimowing. This involves the use of a machine that has vertical blades, rather than horizontal. Spongy lawns should be vertimowed periodically to reduce the buildup of thatch.Fertilising
Fertilising should be carried out during the growing season when the lawn requires more nutrients for growth. Fertilising only needs to be carried out once, maybe twice per year. I prefer to use organic, rather than synthetic fertilisers, such as pelletised chicken manure.

I can prune formal hedges to overgrown trees and everything in between. Pruning promotes healthy growth, helps maintain the shape of shrubs and trees and provides more space in the yard. I have transitioned to using battery powered pruning equipment because it is quieter, lighter and less polluting than 2-stroke petrol equipment.Weeding
Removing weeds, along with mulching, is one of the best things you can do to improve the appearance of your garden. We are weeding machines!Mulching
Mulching helps to reduce water losses, prevents weed growth and weed seed germination, maintains constant soil temperature, improves soil structure (organic only) and improves the aesthetic appearance of most gardens. There are many mulches to choose from that vary considerably in price and appearance.

We carry out a lot of landscape gardening projects, particularly for clients who are looking to sell or lease their property. Renters and buyers are looking for fresh, low maintenance and functional landscaping. First impressions are so important when looking to lease or sell a property. We specialise in low-cost garden makeovers with a focus on soft landscaping combined with more natural hard landscaping. Projects we carry out are generally between $1500 - $5000. Generally involves a combination of the following - assistance with garden design, refurbishing existing gardens (weeding, mulching, pruning, planting) and/or creating new garden beds, installing garden edging, retaining walls, pathways/stepping stones, turf and steps. A lot can be achieved without spending loads of money on expensive hard landscaping.

- Christopher KRick was prompt and turned up exactly when he said he would. He was honest and polite and gave both a fixed rate, to protect both himself and us as a customer, and an hourly rate from us to choose from. The price was very reasonable. He also explained clearly the options, and what he thought about the work, and provided further recommendations. The work we got Rick to do, was to remove about a trailer worth of green waste, remove 3 tree trunks, and lay weed mat on about 24m2 of area. Rick is a machine, we expected this to take the better half of a day, but Rick blast through the work in a few hours. He cleaned up after himself, and left the space looking much better than before he arrived. Very pleased and couldn't recommend more.
